The Ubuntu 10.10 launch party in Johannesburg last weekend
Seems I am behind the 8 ball these days with my blog posts...been a busy week...I was remotely assisting with Ubuntu Desktop training & troubleshooting for a group in Northern Ghana in the Tamale region.
A note about this training...it is a followup session for the teachers and is key to the long term success of the deployment...when i followed up with the administrator of the project, she indicated that 4 of the 8 schools were not using the systems. So we put together a hands on training session in conjuntion with the team from 1Village. Pictures and writeup coming soon.
Last weekend, Mark & I dropped by the Ubuntu Launch party that was hosted by LSD here in Joburg. It was a small but great group who came to download & burn the new ISO's and enjoy a braai as well.
Interesting conversation about new features such as Upstart & Grub2 which perhaps could have been left out of 10.04 until more stable (but then it would be locked out for 2 years) Also good discussion regarding various Ubuntu deployments & market adoption of the Netbook version.
Anyway....met some great people and felt at home in Joburg...Thanks everyone!!
